Slyrs Bavarian Single Malt Whisky Review – The Distillery Bar Beijing
One of our German bar partners brought back a bottle of Slyrs a few weeks ago for the bar. At first we were a bit skeptical cause sure German Bavarian Beer, Gin and schnapps but whisky? Apparently it’s one of Europe’s best kept secrets and this Bavarian whisky lives up to the name and tradition of Southern Germany distilling. Slyrs has been producing whisky since 1999.
Slyrs uses the traditional production process combined with the unique Bavarian climate to give their whisky a unique taste. Featuring famous Bavarian Malts and local fresh mountain spring water used for brewing. Distillation is done in copper pot stills for added flavor. Aging is done in traditional barrels as well as specialty sherry oak casks.
Nose: initially vanilla and a note of brown bread, followed by maple and sweet tart apples
Taste: fresh vanilla pods and a touch of fresh citrus lime juice and a slight touch of grapefruit.
Finish: quite a lot of warmth that comes with this, but it’s fresh vanilla pods.
Well that was 2 weeks ago and the bottle is nearly empty. Come by the bar and give it a taste before we are out!
